He lived at Twyning Parish Gloucestershire in 1851 census, widowed. Occupation: Land and house proprietors. His nephew Leadbeater Shirley and cousin Sarah Dring lived in his household. He also employed 2 servants. The family still lived at Twyning Green in 1861, and employed a governess for son Thomas. He died on 15 October 1869, age 67 at Twyning Gloucestershire
