married Mary _______ about 1869 (gen'l registry), she was age 41 in 1871 census

The following lineage was earlier presumed to be Henry Shirley above, but the marriage of William Henry to Jane Tindall in 1842 would make the birth date for Henry Shirley (above) incorrect. Plus both Henry and William Henry Shirley appear simultaneously in the 1851 census

4(i). William Henry Shirley not enumerated in parent's 1841 census household born about 1820 at Sheffield, likely the William Shirley age 20, living in the Joseph Stovin household in the Sheffield 1841 census; He was age 31, married with family enumerated at Sheffield in 1851 census, born Sheffield Yorkshire; He died prior to the 1861 census Ancestry research pending

Ancestor of DNA participant #16899

Haplotype R-M269 (doesn't match the other branches in the Staffordshire family) Note: There is a Joseph Shirley born illegitimately to Mary Shirley of Alstonfield (see page for earlier generations in this lineage), whose brother was Thomas Shirley 'of Holmes'. This would explain descendants in this particular part of the lineage's YDNA not matching the other male Shirleys of the Alstonfield Staffs lineage. In other words, we may have placed the family/descendants of the above Joseph Shirley 'of Holmes' in the wrong part of the lineage tree - should be son of Mary Shirley and unknown father?
