  5 people were massacred at the Wm. Spence house in 1622 at Archers Hope.


Ensign Wm. Spence listed in 1623 as living on James Island.


Sarah Spence died by 1627 and Wm. Kempe is mentioned as wanting 500 lbs of tobacco in Sarah's estate or inventory.


In Westmoreland Co. VA (1659), Wm. Spence and Richard Searles, co-partners of land and plantation bought of John Bennett and C. Division.


Alexander Spence, sheriff of Westmoreland Co. VA in 1699.


Patrick Spence appointed tobacco inspector fo Wicocomico and Coan, Westmoreland co. April27, 1731 and sheriff in 1737. His wife was Dorcas Youell/Ewell. She married 2nd John JORDAN. In her will she mentions: Friends---John Sturman, John Higgons, and Lawrence Pope. Witnesses: Nicholas Minor and Mary Minor.

(John Jordan listed in Newport Parish Vestry Book, Isle of Wight Co. VA).

Capt Patrick Spence  m. Jemima Sanford and she died 1755. Her will lists... her children as:

Eliz. Sanford, Patrick Spence, Jemima Suggett, Mary Spence, and Youel Spence.

Alexander Spence died 1716. Married Elizabeth Browne, youngest daughter of Evn Browne. James Taylor, late of Richmond County, now of Westmoreland Co. VA, married widow of Evan Browne who died Feb 6, 1694.
