wife Rosina and his 4 children. He was age 25, born Alabama;
A Henry Shirley age 17 and Mary Christian age 18 also living
in the household; Enumerated next in Tuscaloosa Co in 1880 census,
age 36 born Alabama (parents born in Georgia); A Nellie Williams,
age 4 was also living in the household. The family moved to Jefferson
County AL by 1900 census. Nichoas as age 56, employed as a day
laborer; Isabella Little, age 13, a grandaughter was also living
in the household; He died in 1918 at Birmingham Jefferson Co
AL, age 72, born Alabama, son of Nick Shirley who was born in
Alabama and Edith Shirley who was also born in Alabama
married Rosina Vaughn about 1864 (birth 1900 census,
surname from daughter Arabella's death cert); She was
enumerated as wife in 1870, 1880 and 1900 censuses, born about
1848 in Mississippi (1900 census); The 1900 census states the
couple had been married 36 years, 9 of 10 children alive at that
date

Peter Little in Jefferson Co AL on 22 December 1884

in 1870 census, age 13 ini 1880 census; She married George Robinson;
She died on 21 January 1941 at Chicago Cook Co IL, age 67, born
20 Feb 1873 (sic) at Northport Alabama to Nick Shirley and Rozena
Vaughn; Buried at Worth Illinois
2(iii). Melissa Shirley born about 1868 AL, age 2 in
1870 census, age 12 in 1880 census
2(iv). William Z (Green) Shirley born about 1870 AL,
age 5 months in 1870 census, age 10 in 1880 census (as Green
Shirley); age 28 in parent's 1900 census (as Green) untraced
2(v). Henry (Lacey) Shirley born about 1872 AL, age
8 in 1880 census, age 26 in parent's 1900 census (as Lacey);
He died in 1935 at Birmingham Jefferson Co AL, age 64, son of
Nich and Rosa Shirley (death cert as Henry L Shirley)
2(vi). Augustus Shirley born about 1874 AL, age 6 in
1880 census, age 25 in parent's 1900 census; He was married with
children living at Bassie Mining Camp in Jefferson Co AL in 1920
census, age 46 (as Augustus) He and his family had moved to Kansas
City, Jackson Co Missouri by 1930 census, age 55; Also he and
wife enumerated in Kansas City in 1940 census, age 65. Shirleys of Kansas City Missouri
married Matilda James on 11 October 1896 at

age 15 was also enumerated in the 1870 household; He was likely
the George Shirlr (sic) enumerated in the 1866 Alabama State
Census, age 30-40 with wife and one son and one older daughter;
Not found in 1880 census; He died prior to the 1900 census
at which time his wife Omy was enumerated as a widow.
married Omy (Amie) Savage She was enumerated as George
Shirley's wife in 1870 census, age 33, and named as mother to
Stirling Shirley in his death certificate; She is widowed in
Tuscaloosa Co 1900 census, head of household age 67; Two grandchildren,
Edward Shirley age 24 (b 1875) and Mayfield Shirley age 3 are
living in her houshold in 1900; Also Lizzie Cummins age 9, grandaughter
and Ona McDaniel age 8 grandaughter and William A McDaniel age
7 grandson.; Likely the Omie Shirley who was buried at Rices
Hill Cemetery Northport Tuscaloosa Co AL born 25 December 1826
in North Carolina, died 6 April 1916 at Northport, age 89

census, age 54; Menervie Shirley (Goins surname marked out) mother
in law was living with the family, age 78. Also Elizabeth Shirley
(Hyche marked out) niece age 9 living with the family

states the couple had been married 12 years at that date; The
census also curiously states that "Fanny" had zero
children alive of zero children born (so whose son is Mayfield?)

1910 census (note he may not be the son of Fanny, the wife
of his father Winfield Shirley, see curious note for Fanny's
