In the first place my will and desire is that all my just debts be paid int he second place I give and bequeath to my son James Elias Kelley Sherley Gatlen all my lands that I am in possession of now or may be in possession of at my death to him his heeirs and assigns forever. In the thired place my will and desire is that my residue of my property be equally divided between all my children namely Prudence S Gatlen, Mary Gatlen, Pharabay Gattln James E. K. S. Gatlen and Margaret M Gatlen share and share alike when they arrive to lawful age or day of marriage and that Moriah Gatlen the mother of said children have her maintenance and support out of the said property and a house and home with her son James E K S Gatlen during her life time or widdow hood or during the time she remains with out cohabiting with another man and all my children above named to have their support and a home with their mother and brotehr until they arrive to lawful age or day of marriage and I do hereby ordain and appoint my friends Silas Hollamon and James Kelley whole and sole executors to this my last will and testament given under my hand and seal this 8th January 1840. First I will and order that ll my just debts be well and trly paid out of my estate which god was pleased to bless me with. Secondly I give and bequeath unto my beloved son James E K Shirley Gatlin all my lands (saving and excepting my Rosier Pond tract) as well as my negro boy Pompey and a bed and complete furniture, a good horse saddle and bridle. I further will and order that his mother shall have a house and home with him during her natural life or until she marries. He shall support an dmaintain her during her natural life or until she is again married but no furthe ron no account. Also I will and order that he he shall maintain an support his sisters my daughters while single (viz) Prudence Shirley Gatlin Mary Shirley Gatlin Pheraby A Shirley Gatlin, Margaret M Shirley Gatlin and Charlotte Shirley Gatlin . And as to the balance the rest and remainder of my real and personal estate and property I will and order that it shall be sold and the money equally divided among my daughters bove named share and share alike in the following manner (viz) As soon as eithe rof them are married or arrives at the age of twenty one years, my Executors shall pay over to each one her equal proportional part. Thirdly, I constitute nominate appoint and ordain my trusty friends Silas Hollamon and James Kelly Jurnior sole and only executors.
