to see his patients in China Grove, Alabama. He died Feb 12,

He was a road builder and roads in the area were gravel. The
dust may have contributed to his throat condition. He developed
throat cancer and immediately has a tracheotomy. He could not
speak after that and lived 2 years. He died Nov 1,
1916 Montgomery, AL

1862 Ramer or China Grove AL; She died 20 December 1935 Montgomery,

5(i). Willie Hill Shirley (daughter) born Sept 22, 1883 Pike Co. AL She
died Dec 20, 1948 Montgomery, AL. She did not marry. Her fiance,
Jack Snow, died at age 20. She was known as "Sister".
She received many certificates of excellence when she was in
school. She was an excellent cook and prepared her family's meals.
She taught Sunday School at Clayton St. Baptist church and played
the piano. She also taught piano. She was tall with a large build,
had bright red wavy hair with fair skin and blue eyes. She worked
as a clerk in the dry goods section of the local store, owned
by a relative. After the store was sold, she became an Avon representative.
She loved to listen to soap operas on the radio.

census., age 17 in 1860 census; He was private in Co E 60th AL
Infantry in the Civil War. He was captured at Hatcher's Run VA
on 31 March 1865 and was released from Point Lookout MD on 17
June 1865. He was listed as being 5'8 1/4" tall with a light
complexion, dark brown hair and hazel eyes. He died 1930. Buried
at Kynesville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Jackson Co
FL.
