on 23 November 1804 by Magin Mawell near Jonesborrough in Carter
County, East TN. She married 2) Jeremiah Evans in 1830 and he
died before 1840. Elizabeth lived with her son John Shirley
in Fayette County Illinois in the 1850 census. She was born 3
October 1783 VA. She died in Fayette Co., Illinois, on 12 October
1858.
'Mother told me that our Shirley grandmother, upon the
death of her husband took her children in a covered wagon and
returned to her family. i understand one of her brothers, and
I think I remember the name Moses (Poland) went with her. Mother
said she always heard that she was a very very brave lady"
