1(i). Richard Charles Shurley
b. Sept 25, 1781; Resident of Hancock Co GA in 1807 when he drew land in Baldwin Co GA (later located in Jones Co); Named in an 1808 Jones Co GA court record with (likely) brothers Thomas Shurley and Edward Shurley. Purchased 50 acres on Walnut Creek in Jones Co from John Brooks in 1811; Living in Jones Co GA in 1820 census; Contrary to dates claimed in the published transcription of his bible, Richard Shirley died just prior to July 1828; His inventory and estate were administered beginning in July 1828 in Jones Co GA. At which time, two minor sons, Aaron and Nathaniel were assigned guardians by the court. (The Richard Charles Shirley bible fixes his death at 10 October 1833, but this date is clearly wrong or refers to another Richard "Charles" Shurley)

children:

The following children are presented in the context of Richard Shurley's 1820 census profile

Since Richard Shirley died before 1828, then this list should be complete - otherwise additional guardianships would have been appointed for children under age of 21 at about 1830-1838 when other guardianships were granted (Was Thomas Shurley b. 1816 also a son, but why no guardianship for him?). Only Nathaniel and Aaron appear in county guardianship books. Richard Charles Shirley's bible only follows Eliza Shirley and the John Gailand Brown pedigree. It does not identify her siblings therefore does not conflict with the following list of brothers and sisters
