Francis Marion Shirley born 1845 Cedar Co. Iowa d. May 27, 1899 Denver, Colorado m. Sarah Cynthia Lancaster Dec 6, 1866 Le Claire, Iowa (Sarah is the sister of Hannah Lancaster who married John Franklin Shirley). Sarah was born Oct 8, 1849 in Illinois daughter of Thomas Lancaster who was born in Connecticut and Cynthia Smith born in PA. Thomas Lancaster was a steam boat captain on the Mississippi River and resided at Le Claire, Iowa.
He was in the Union Army of the Civil War in company C of the 8th Regiment, Iowa Calvary Volunteers, mustered out on Aug 13, 1865 at Macon, Georgia.
After his move to Denver Colorado, he worked in real estate.
He is buried Riverside Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
