1783 Will of Richard Shirley, Yeoman of Alborne , Sussex 28 May 1783 PROB 11/1104 I have surrendered unto the hands of the Lord of the Manor of Slaugham all that my customary or copyhold, messuages or tenement and lands called Lords Grove in Slaugham and also certain other customary lands called parcel of Portmead in Slaugham to the use of my will to hereby give and devise to my loving wife Sarah for and during the term of her natural life; Remainder of personal estate to my wife for maintenance during the term of her natural life and after her decease I give all my messuage aforesaid unto my kinsman Samuel Grover of Patcham Sussex; I give to my nephew Richard Shirley L25; Give to my nephew Henry Shirley L25; Give to my nephew John Shirley L25; Give to my nephew Charles Shirley L25; Desire to be decently buried at Woodmancote church yard.
