There is a
Samuel Pruitt of Northumberland (b. 1684) with a son William. The family
seems to be in Maryland mostly. One son went to Pittsylvania VA (not
Spotsylvania). I wonder if there is a connection to early 1700s Caroline
Co. VA. with Thomas and wife Mary Shirley and William Prewitt????
