The Calvert Co. Maryland Skinners was founded by Robert Skinner about
1658. He settled on The Reserve, a plantation which is still possessed by
a descendant. Their coat of arms is the same as those listed in Burke's
General Armory for the Skinner family of Hertfordshire Co. England.
In the will of Thomas Sherley, Esquire of West Clandon, Surrey, England,
(Summer 1995 Page 7 Shirley NEWS), son of Sir Thomas the Younger...he
gives ten pounds in two peeces of plate to Sarah, the wife of DOCTOR
SKINNER. He also gives his boots, shoes, stockings and spurrs to the
servant of Doctor Skinner. |
