Daniel Tanner came to America on the ship "SAMPSON" in 1618 and is in the muster of VA in 1624/25 ____________________________ Ages abstracted from depositions in Lower Norfolk Co. Virginia. In 1637, Daniell Tanner was 56 years old. (Note: 4 names above Daniell's is the name Thomas (?) Cheely 40 years old. ____________________________ Certificates of Head Rights of Virginia in County Court of Lower Norfolk Co. VA. June 1, 1655 - Certified by William Stanley, Maijor of Citty of Caanterbury in Commonwealth of England that Charitye Tanner late wife of Daniell Tanner is living and an inhabitant of said citty and it hath been proved by the Register booke of the parish church of St. Paule in saaid Citty that said Charity was married to said Daniell Tanner Nov 24 1614 and had one sonne named John baptised Oct 14, 1627 which JOhn is compelled to travell beyond the seas about estate of said Daniel Tanner, his father, who dyed in Virginia &c. dated Aug 10, 1654. Thomas Sherley and Florentyne Payne NOTE: Daniel Tanner didn't mention his wife and son John in his will. Thomas Shirley did, in fact, inherit land in Eliz. City Co. from Dainel Tanner, because of the abstract of the later owner who said that it was SHERLEY's and prior to that, Tanners.
