1857 Will of Daniel M Shirley of Goffstown Hillsborough
New Hampshire.
WB 57 page 535 - I give and bequath to my wife Jane Shirley
one third part of the whole of my real estate, 2 cows with all
my household goods bedsteads, bedding and other furniture. Authorize
executor to sell all of my personal property remaining to apply
to debts and to bargain in fee simple all those my lands called
the Cummings Butterfield pasture situate in New Boston being
80 acres also the Waterville land situated in Waterville being
50 acres. Also a piece of land situate in Bedford call the [
] being 2 acres, also to sell so much of the Hookset land as
shall pay the balance of my debts. To my son Daniel Shirley 2/3
of my home place situate in Goffstown, one cow called the McDade
heifer and one yoke of oxen also the colt called the French colt,
also two hundred dollars worth of farming utensils . To my daughters
Nancy Shirley, Mary Jane Shirley and Harriet Shirley each 200
dollars, to Harriet who is unmarried a home with Daniel Shirley
and her mother while she remains unmarried. To Horace Shirley
the colt called the Old Mare colt and a pair of twin calves or
steers. The rest and remainder of my real estate on equal portions
to my three sons Robert M Shirley, Joseph Shirley and Horace
Shirley. Appoint Robert M Shirley executor. Written 11 October

1817 (dau of Robert and Janet Rolfe Moore). She was born July
16, 1797 d. April 21, 1881.

in Goffstown New Hampshire. He died 20 April 1883,
married Margaret Ann Dodge on
March 25, 1857. She was born January 30, 1828. She was daughter
of John G. and Polly (Tallant) Dodge. No children.

Robert Moore Shirley on Mar. 25, 1857 in Goffstown. The bride
was born in Goffstown, the daughter of John Gordon Dodge and
Polly Tallant. The groom was born in Deering, the son of Daniel
Shirley and Jane Moore.
4(ii). Joseph Shirley born May 16, 1821 in Goffstown New Hampshire.
He died August 18, 1825. He was first person buried in Shirley
Hill Cemetery and also his funeral was the first intown in which
no liquor was used. died young

New Hampshire

4(v). Joseph Shirley
born April 22, 1831 in
Goffstown New Hampshire. He died January 1896 Brushton New York,
In the early '50's he in company with five others
from Shirley Hill went to California. He piloted, for Quincy
Shirley, the first drove of cattle that was driven across the
plains from the Humbolt Valley to San Francisco. After returning
from California he located at Brushton, New York where he was
engaged in the stock business. Shirleys of Brushton, Franklin Co NY
married Helen M. Niles of Bombay
New York on Dec 23, 1857.

She married Sylvanus D. Johnson
4(vii). Daniel Shirley born September 26, 1837 in Goffstown
New Hampshire. Daniel resided on the homestead of his father
and carried on an extensive business in farming. He was one of
the foremost fruit growers of his time in New Hampshire. He died.
Feb 7, 1897 in Manchester NH.
married Elsie De Ette Sackett
of Pottsdam New York on Jan 13, 1872. She was born Aug 16, 1850.
She died Mar 23, 1896 Goffstown, dau of Benjamin P. and Jane
(Towle) Sackett.

5(i). James Shirley born February 23, 1876 Goffstown, He
lived upon the farm where he was born and where his father and
grandfather resided before him. The house said to be the first
two-story frame building erected in Goffstown.
married Winifred Pratt on July
20, 1897. She was born May 30, 1880 Pleasantdale, Nebraska dau
of Thomas and Amelia (Dubois) Pratt.

4(viii). Horace Shirley born March 19, 1841 enlisted in Co. G
16th New Hampshire Volunteers. He died April 18, 1863. He drowned
in Vermillion Bayou in Louisiana. died age 22
