in the 44th year of his age of Typhoid Fever, Edward Shurley
esq leaving a wife and ten children; as well as many relatives
and friends to lament his loss.
1850 Mortality Census - Edmond Shurley , age 46, married;
died Sept; farmer; Typhoid; 12 days ill
married Katherine Griffin on 1 Dec 1832 in Warren Co
GA; She was born 3 Nov 1815; Living in Warren Co GA in 1850 census
without husband; Named as a distributive heir of her deceased
brother-in-laws William and Nathaniel Shurley in 1850; Idientified
as "Mrs Shurly" in the 1860 census, Goose Pond District;
Living with son William Shurley in 1870; She died Feb 1891, buried
Elim Cemetery in Warren Co.

3(i). Jasper G. Shurley born about 1833 GA; living
with mother in 1850 Warren Co GA census. In 1860 he is living
in Ricketson's district in Warren Co Ga with his new family.
He apparantly died during the Civil War, 3 Nov 1862 in Dalton,
Whitfield, Georgia.
married Jane Aldred 4 Apr 1854 in Warren Co GA; she
was age 25 in 1860

3(ii). Rufus M. Shurley born about 1834 GA; living
with mother in 1850 Warren Co GA census and working as a carpenter
in the household of Thomas Pilcher in 1860. He was 26. Living
in the Barnett PO area in 1870 with new family, farmer. Living
in Warrenton in 1880, carpenter. He died sometime before 1900
when his wife was shown as a widow in the census.
married Harriet A (Katie) Littleton 23 January 1866
in Warren Co (apparently the widow of Henry
W Shurley, brother of Rufus); She was listed as a storekeeper
in the family 1880 census. She was widowed and residing with
several unmarried elder children in 1900, Richmond County Georgia

4(i). Sally Shurley born 26 December 1865 at Warren
Co GA, daughter of R M Shurley and Katie Littleton (death certificate),
age 3 in the 1870 Warren Co GA census; age 13 in 1880, age
33 in widowed mother's 1900 census household. She died single,
occupation: domestic at Richmond Co GA on 2 January 1923, M.
H Shirley of Florence Co SC was the informant at death
4(ii). Mary Lou Shurley age 2 in the 1870 Warren Co
GA census; age 11 in 1880, age 31 in widowed mother's 1900 census
household; She was the informant at her sister Carrie D Shurley's
death certificate in 1942
4(iii). William H. Shurley born 18 August 1872 in Warren
Co GA, (tombstone) age 7 in 1880 Warren Co GA census,
(as Walter H) age 27 in widowed mother's 1900 census household
(as William H), occupation: flagman for the railroad. His named
appeared in the August City Directory during this latter period
often, in 1895 as a Railroad brakeman, and other times, 1901,
1904 seemingly working for various railroad companies, as were
his relatives, Wm E and Mat H Shurley. He died 5 October 1904,
age 32 at Augusta GA and buried at West View Cemetery along with
most other siblings and many Shurley relatives
married Mattie Wright______She married Edward H Clark
of Augusta GA after the death of husband William; Her name is
found on the tombstone of her husband "Willie Shurley"
at West View Cemetery, Augusta. According to her death certificate,
she was born at Keysville Georgia [likely Burke Co GA]; She died
20 January 1960 at Charlotte Mecklenburg Co NC (death certificate,
father and mother's name blank). Her son Albert F Clark (aka
Shurley) was the informant at death
4(iv). Cary D. Shurley born 2 August 1887 Warren Co
GA (sic, death certificate) daughter of Rufus Marion Shurley
and Hattie Littleton, age 5 in the 1880 Warren Co GA census,
age 25 in widowed mother's 1900 census household (as daughter
Carrie D) She was unmarried, and died 31 December 1942 at Augusta
GA
4(v). Robert M Shurley age 5 in the 1880 Warren Co
GA census, not in mother's 1900 census household
3(iii). Henry W. Shurley born about 1838 GA; living
with mother in 1850 Warren Co GA census. In 1860 he is living
with the William Littleton family at the Warrenton PO as a farm
laborer, age 22. Enlisted in the CSA army on 4 Mar 1862. 2nd
Lieutenant, C.S.A., Co B, 48th Rgt, GA Infantry. Died while
at home on sick furlough.
married Harriet Ann Matilda Littleton; on 11 Apr 1860
in Warren Co GA. She was born 27 July 1842 in Warrenton, Warren,
GA (source: Phillips family bible) She
apparently married next her brother-in-law Rufus M Shurley

Co., GA. He was enumerated in the household of his uncle Rufus
Shirley in the 1870 census, age 10. Likely the "W. Edward
Shurley, nephew, age 18" living with uncle Marshall Shurley
in 1880 census
4(ii). Matthew H. Shurley born 23 December 1862 in
Warren Co., GA; He was living in the household of uncle Rufus
Shirley in 1870 census, age 7; Likely the "Mathi, age 17
nephew" who is living with his uncle William F. Shurley
in that census.
3(iv). Marshall Hume Shurley born about 1839 GA; living
with mother in 1850 Warren Co GA census; living alone as a farmer
in Barnett PO in Warren Co in 1870 census; He left a will made
on 22 July 1886 and probated on 2 Aug 1886 in Warren County,
Georgia. Living in Norwood, Warren Co in 1880 census. (Ga archives
card file says b July 7, 1830 - d July 23, 1886)

family, age 38; He died Jun. 17, 1909; buried Elim Cemetery in
Warren Co GA
