My mother was a Shirley and I have been trying to trace her family roots. One of her grandfathers was Isaac Shirley born in Mercer Co. Ky., in June 1789. He was married to Catherine Hendrickson and they had 13 children: Luhnenberg, Hardin, Mary, Cinderilla, Elizabeth Betsy, Margaret, William, Melisa, Isaac, Jr., Catherine, Nancy Ann, Quintella, and Daniel. Hardin is my mother's great-great grandfather. Most of her family was born here in Indiana. The Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Shelby Co., In is where a lot of her family is buried. Her grandpa Hardin sold the land to the church in August, 1841. The church burned down several years ago, but there are still lots at the graveyard for sale. =========================================================================
