Mrs. Helen Shirley McKinney was born on June 7, 1893, in Kentucky. She
became a Christian at the age of 12, and the family moved to McGREGOR, Texas,
that same year. On February 9, 1912, she married Jim McKinney. They lived
near Mother Neff Park until 1958 when they moved to Moody. Jim McKinney died on
March 13, 1959, and she lived alone until her death on July 10, 1964.

The Shirleys and McKinneys had wonderful family reunions almost every year.
This is one that was printed in the local newspaper. Date is unknown.
Twins Present At Reunion Held By Group Past Week
Seventy-Four Attend Annual Event of Shirley Family at Mother Neff Park Recently
Seventy-four members of the Shirley family assembled at Mother Neff park
last Sunday for their annual reunion, with Mr. & Mrs. J. W. Sexton and
"Grandpa" Galligher holding places of honor due to the fact that they
are the oldest members of the family. Three pairs of twins took second place.
The reunion took the form of an all-day picnic, dinner-on-the-ground affair with Rev. henry ford preaching to the group at 11 o'clock in the morning. During the afternoon an old fashioned sing-along was held and musical interludes were furnished by J.W. Keltner, Edgar Keltner and Gordon Fletcher.
Attending were Messrs. And Mesdames J. W. Sexton, Glenn Stone, Owen Shirley, Lois Cannon, Thomas Davis, A.L. Shirley, all of McGregor; Messrs. And Mesdames Ernest McKinney, Van Roberts, W.T. Flecher, R.B. Keltner, Gordon Fletcher, H.H. Stewart, Robert French, all of Moody; Mr. and Mrs. Hobert Keltner, Ocee; Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Shirley of Whitehall, Mr. and Mrs. Jim McKinney of The Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Howliman of Marlin, Mr. and Mrs. Jobie Shirley of Gatesville; Mesdames Duard Zimmerman, Roy Roach, J.M. sparks and Miss Alvena Fletcher, all of McGregor; Rev. married 60 years August 12 and have lived in Sacramento for 20 years.
He is a retired employee of the Sacramento Army Depot. The Shirleys
have five children, 11 grandchildren and sex great-grandchildren. Four
Shirley generations attended the anniversary reception.
