03, 1779 in Jones County, Georgia. He married ELIZABETH. She was
born in Richland County, Georgia.

According to the book Eight Southern families, William Stubley Shurley I, born
Abt 1732 in Ireland came to America with brothers Edward, James, John, and
Richard. They settled in Augusta County, Virginia. From there they separated,
one going to Kentucky, another to South Carolina. Later Edward, James, John and
William settled in Georgia in 1775. William then had a wife and 5 children. He
served as a private in Ga. troops in Revolution and was granted 250 acres at the
Ford of McBeans Swamp and 140 acres at Chickasaw Old Path, 200 acres each in the
Parrish of St. Paul and St. George, in Georgia.
According to Mormon records William could have been born in Scotland.

Notes for WILLIAM WESLEY JOHNSON:
William Johnson was baptized into Union Primitive Baptist Church, August 10,
1839 and his wife was baptized
June 13, 1840. They were dismissed by letter December13, 1845, and transferred
their membership to Wayfare
Baptist Church which had been organized and was much nearer to their home. Mr.
Johnson was licensed
to preach the Gospel June 4, 1853. He was excommunicated July 6, 1860, the
church minutes showing his offense
to be "swearing". Mrs. Johnson died a member February 6, 1875. The
daughter Keziah, became a member shortly
after and was baptized December 4, 1875. She died a member also some years
later.
According to the book Pioneers of Wiregrass Vol.2 William was born in South
Carolina and came to Ga. with
the Shirley (Sherley) family. He married Amelia in 1838. They lived in Lowndes
County until at 1848, then moved to Ware county.
