Benjamin Shirley Aug 28, 1814 near Due West, Abbeville Co. South Carolina. He was called "Bottom Ben". He died January 17, 1894 Hart Co. Georgia. married Katherine Carolyn Latimer born Nov 1, 1824 Honea Path, South Carolina, d. Sept. 18, 1899 daughter of Benjamin and Dicie Grubbs Latimer. They settled in Franklin Co. Georgia, but when the new county was formed, they found themselves in Hart County. They are buried in Shoal Creek Cemetery in Hart Co. GA. Benjamin was a farmer.
