Orvil Shaffer SEPTEMBER 28, 2008 Argeland Shirley descendants (branch #10) Spencer Henry Shirley branch of the Shirley Clan will hold a Family reunion on September 30 th. The Family will meet at the Historical Bethel Church a few miles East of Emden, IL. The Shirley Family was one of the founding Fathers in the Church. Our service will consist of one of the descendants
doing the speaking while the rest of the service is conducted
by other Family members. The
Church is closed and in the hands of the Historical Society and
a OK is needed to hold services there. It does not have electricity
so some time the temperature can be either hot or cool. A interesting
place as it is located by a cemetery and lots of history is in
the reading of the tombstones. The
Church service will be an hour long and then the Family will
congregate at the Prairieland Christian Church, formerly the
Hartsburg Christian, in Hartsburg, about five miles away, to
enjoy a meal and fellowship. One
of the Family members will present a slide show of the pictures
of former years. It is a great fellowship time to just
talk and meet family members that have not been seen for quite
awhile. If any further information
is needed the following can be contacted. Kay
